Hello together

With all respect, we are missing some explanations about the violence in the relationship from Krishnamacharya to his young pupils in the early times of Mysore.
B.K.S Iyengar is telling the story since a long time, and in the documentary film „Der atmende Gott“  we hear more about brutality and ignorance of Krishnamacharya. The relationship to the young men seems to be a kind of exploitation. Not even this, Iyengar was not even teached in Yoga by Krishnamacharya. There were no answers to just simple questions related to yoga.So he can not be called a pupil of Krishnamacharya, as we thought him to be for a long time. Also we are told, that the hard forced yoga practice did hurt the pupils, so B.K.S Iyengar had to suffer for 2 years. By the way, we don´t understand this according to the ideas of yoga as „ahimsa“ etc, peaceful relationship, relation of teacher and pupil etc. So we would be happy to get some explanations according to this questions.

 Best regards

 Hans

In this auspicious day of Yogacarya T Krishnamacharya’s birthday (according to Indian Calendar) the KHYF organised a ceremony to commemorate the occasion. TKV Desikachar led a group chanting session along with senior teachers and students from all over the world.

Chants and flowers were offered to the legendary master whose teachings continue to inspire millions around the world.

If you would like to join in commemorating his contribution to Yoga, we suggest that you take a moment of your day to observe silence or offer a chant or silent prayer.
